E-nano XL Review
By Ananth AKA Numphy
The E-Nano XL is my first foray into” log” vapes and I’m so happy I made the choice to do so. A log vape is a wooden cylinder with a metal core and cable. Ride’s EpicVape E-Nano XL is a beautiful maple burl with a tiny blue LED and silver metal heater. He provided a number of stems to use for it, including two Joda Glass blown stems. One was a straight stem with dimples for cooling and the other a 14mm WPA with a carb. Ride provided the original box, inserts, and cloth bag the log portion was packaged in.

This is a desktop vape that you would be using mainly at home, though I can see bringing it to a friend’s house as a possibility, but it does not have portability in the sense that you need to be stationary to use it. The heating method and usage is simple, but first let me describe setting it up. The log plugs into the wall. Yes. That’s it. After that harrowing ordeal you then comes the hardest part; dialing in the voltage to how hot you’d like and WAIT.
If you are using it with the straight stems you’ll be hitting it dry, but if you use the WPA and have a water piece to use it with I highly recommend doing that. Although I never got to properly use the log while sitting at the couch that also is a place you may not want glass around so the straight stems are more appropriate. The heat is controlled by a dial power control that has power from 1-10. Ride recommended me to try 6-7 for the straight stem and 7+ for the WPA.
After the much too long 20 minutes have gone by, your vape is ready to use!
Using the log is easy but it does take a one-time moment of figuring out the exact mechanics, but essentially the hot air will pass over the material from the heater and because our material is in a straw the draw resistance compresses it into the screen and prevents it from falling out between hits. If that sounds overly complicated, what I mean is that you pinch some weed into the stem, put the stem on the heater and inhale and that is pretty much it. Once the heater is heated there is no more waiting: you can pretty much back to back as many hits as you’d like.
We here at my home were very pleased with how easy this vape is to use and maintain. You also end up keeping it out because it’s nice to look at as a piece of wood and is unobtrusive as decoration. I think that’s the thing that I like about it and the thing I would recommend about logs in general for someone who has never tried them is that if you find one you really like it will be a pleasure to have it on display and used everyday. I would say that the E-nano XL’s main strength is not as a heavy hitter, but as a consistent daily driver you can set and forget when it comes to heating and cleaning.
Actual maintenance is really easy. The stems are glass so you clean them like your other glassware, making sure they are fully dry before use. The metal heater can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and q-tips but be careful not to get any alcohol on the wood so as to not damage it. In my experience the water pipe adapter got dirty much more quickly than just using the stem so the benefit of using water to hit bigger bowls means you do need to keep up with cleaning to maintain flavor.
Speaking of flavor, I really enjoy the convection hit you get off of this vape. The closest hit I can compare it to that I’m familiar with among my vapes is the microdose bowl on the Ruby Twist, a ball vape. The smaller load size and heating mass of the log mean the hit is smaller in comparison but the taste is not diminished in the slightest. In fact I’d argue among vaping methods this is one of the easiest and most consistent convection vapes you can use.
I highly enjoyed my time with the E-Nano XL and it has inspired me to personally seek out a log of my own one day! I’m truly grateful to be a part of this project so I can try cool vapes, not just because I enjoy doing it, but also I’m hoping that among our reviewers one of our voices connects with you and we can continue to have these conversations; among ourselves and with you so the community can grow!
Thank you for reading and happy vaping!
